AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS

The Twilighter of the Year Award is the highest honour in the rugby club, and is presented to the member who exemplifies passion and contribution to the Rugby Club, as voted by their peers.

The Rookie of the Year Award is presented rookie who excels on the field and off the field.

The Shape Award is presented to the member who defines themselves throughout the year.

The No Hands Award is presented to the member who in the course of the season’s rugby matches, constantly drops the ball and/or unable to catch the ball.

The Poker Award is presented to the winner of the annual Twilighter Poker Tournament.

The Hospital Award is presented to the active playing member who suffers a significant injury setback during the course of the season.

The Lady Byng Award (akin to that in the NHL) is presented each year to the member who exhibits the best sportsmanship and gentlemanly* conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.

The Zork Award is presented to the member who spreads cheer on the rugby team and is a light in social settings.

The Late Award is presented to the member who arrives late to matches, but makes an immediate impact when they step on the field.

The Most Improved Award is presented to the member who improved their on-field performance throughout the season.

The Perseverance Award is presented to the member who shows commitment regardless of injury, diversity or challenges.

The Scooter Award is presented to the member who excels in speed and accelerates ball carries.

The Ollie Barney Memorial Award is presented to the member who makes the greatest impact in matches throughout the season of play. Ollie Barney was an Original Twilighter member.

The 110% Award is presented every year to the active member who without question, plays out of field position, and agrees to do anything in the match which may include being lent out to bolster the opponents.

The George Cook Award, is awarded to the best home match hosting cooking team and their meal. This award is named after George Cook, who served as the hosting chef for over 20years.

The Road Warriors Award is presented to the members who complete ALL of the bus trips throughout the season of play.

The Forsberg Memorial Cup, is awarded every year to the winner of the annual Rob Forsberg Memorial Match between the Twilighter versus Justice RFC. Rob was a member of the Justice Rugby Club and Vancouver Trojans since 1976, and later Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. Rob tragically passed in 1999.

The Narod-Cook Memorial Cup, is awarded to the winner of the annual Home & Home series between the Twilighters and the Semiahmoo Old Boys. Philip (Doc) Narod & George Cook were founding members of both rugby clubs. Doc was the winner of the BC Master Athlete of the year in 2000, played rugby until the age of 86 (2011), and sadly passed in 2014. George similarly played until the age of 80 (2021), and sadely passed in 2024.

The Greg Gilding Memorial Cup, is awarded to the winner of the annual “Gays versus Geezers, Greg Gilding Memorial Match”. Greg Gilding was a driver for inclusive rugby “Everyone should play”. Greg tragically passed in 2022.
