Cory Turkington

Cory, the son of the legendary Twilighter, Rod Turkington, has been playing with the Twits for the last 3 to 4 years. This prodigious offspring is still young enough to wear white shorts when he suits up on game day. Cory is a key member of the backs as he can play scrum half, fly half or centre. When he is not demonstrating his skills on the rugby pitch, he spends time with his family and earns a living as an environmental management consultant. (Do you have any suggestions on how to remove the goose droppings?) The last team Cory played for, prior to the Twits, was the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. In his earlier days, he was also selected to play for the Fraser Valley U21, BC U21, and the Vancouver Wave.

One of his greatest achievements was winning the 2011 B.C. 1st Division Championship. As impressive as this sounds, Cory rates the opportunity he had playing with some of Canada’s finest captains and BLRC alum as his best achievement. This list would include players like Mike James, Pat Riordan, Ryan Banks, and Colin Mackenzie. Cory’s aspirations in life to play as long as his body allows him and to watch his two boys play rugby.

Let us hope you passed your skills onto your two boys like your dad, Rod, did.
